This small rectangular bronze medal was issued in 1937 to commemorate the inauguration of the oil refinery in Montevideo. The obverse has a fantastic industrial image of parts of an oil refinery and is signed "Montes Rega". The bottom is stamped "Independencia Economica" and above that is engraved "Unidad de Toppino" The reverse is stamped "Inauguracion de la Refineria de Petroleo A.N.C.A.P. Montevideo Uruguay 1937". It is also stamped "Tammaro" - the minter.
